I am a member of Field Goods, a local organization, similar to a CSA, but works with many local farmers. What is a CSA? Community Supported Agriculture allows customers to invest in their local farmers. In return, they receive weekly samplings from the harvest. Usually, a CSA is run by one farm. Since Field Goods is a middle-person for several farms, the "samplings" are quite diverse.
I joined Field Goods because I wanted to cook with veggies I had never used and because it was flexible. Every week, I can decide how often I want to receive a bag of fruits and veggies, or whether I want a bag at all. The ability to pause my deliveries is very helpful when I have to travel.
Typically, when I get a bag of herbs, I dry them right away. A few weeks ago, I received sage and spearmint. The smell was incredible. Last night, I decided to make tea with them. My entire house was being steam-smushed! It was glorious! The taste was sweet with a bit of a bitter aftertaste. The whole family was a fan.

The tea had a calming effect, helping me to settle into slumber. As I write this piece, I have another pot brewing with old and new leaves.
