This semester, honor your breath by breathing.
My Facebook status on December 31, 2016 was "Happy New Year! Value every breath and breathe deeply." Breathing deeply, has a multitude of benefits. There are a few references at the end of this post
Before the semester begins, most students already know when they are going to be stressed: During midterms and finals week, perhaps when they have to give an oral presentation, or maybe when the housing lottery opens up. In addition to typical stressful seasons in every semester, there are relationship stressors, work-related stressors, and maybe stressors from home. Just taking deep breaths may not solve all of your problems, but it will help you to make better decisions and it will help your body and mind to better adjust to stressful situations. You do not have to be stressed to observe the benefits of taking a deep breath. Do it now. Breathe like you are filling your belly with air and slowly let the air out through your mouth. Feel that? Yeah, you should do that all semester long!
